Cook Native American Ministries Foundation Grant Supports UNITY Communication Efforts
UNITY will expand its Communications efforts thanks to a grant funded by the Cook Native American Ministries Foundation. The communications project will further showcase the good that results from the compassion, creativity, and hard work of Native youth and UNITY’s affiliated youth councils. Native youth are involved and making a difference in their communities through community service projects and volunteer work. The communication grant will increase the awareness of what they are doing to confront and address the problems they face. This heightened awareness will further encourage, motivate, and inspire greater numbers to follow the example of those spotlighted for the greater benefit of the individuals involved, Native America and the nation.
The $10,000 grant will allow UNITY to 1) design, plan and expand the UNITY News network to include greater involvement of the news makers, the Native youth themselves, 2) provide training for youth throughout the UNITY Network to increase their capability to report on their youth council projects through available social media and other news outlets, 3) facilitate the distribution/access of the news to the larger public, and 4) promote Native youths’ participation in the expanded News Network.
