Members of the Denver Local Planning Committee (LPC) are working hard to ensure Native youth and advisors enjoy a wonderful National UNITY Conference experience next month in Denver. The LPC is made up of several Native youths and adult members from the Denver metro area who have been meeting since late last year.
The activities the LPC are coordinating include the Welcome Powwow, daily cultural performances, and the 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament. The Welcome Powwow, to be held on Wednesday, July 5 at 6 pm
, is open to the public. The Head Staff and the location of the Powwow will be announced very soon. The 3-on-3 Basketball Tournament will be held at the Auraria Event Center at Metropolitan State University (MSU) of Denver, within walking distance of the Denver Convention Center. The LPC is also securing wood for the UNITY Fire.
Thanks to efforts of the Local Planning Committee, a reduced parking option will be available for conference attendees. Details to be announced. The committee is also working on what they hope will be fun surprises. “UNITY is very grateful to the Local Planning Committee for all their hard work. They want conference participants to have the best time in Denver and so do we. The 2017 National UNITY Conference is sure to be a memorable event,” said Mary Kim Titla, UNITY Executive Director.
