“Meeting of the Minds” Youth Council Gathering

“Leadership is having a compelling vision, a plan, relentless implementation, and talented Native young leaders working together for a common goal.” The 1st Native Youth Network Gathering exemplified all of that! The Native Youth Network gathering in Phoenix was the first gathering of various youth councils within the Western region.

Through icebreakers and “get acquainted” exercises, participants had meaningful interactions that led to great opportunities for networking. The Native Youth Network Gathering focused on being informed about the various local Youth Councils and their activities. Attendees also had the chance to participate in the breakout sessions to hear from other young people, as well as learning about various tribal cultures. It was truly a great day to be indigenous and be Native Youth Leaders!!

“It was awesome to observe all the reports being given, and all of the ideas being shared on how to work together to achieve a better tomorrow for Native youth. We had the opportunity to report on behalf of UNITY as well. Hopefully in the future more youth councils can get involved, and maybe we can even share this idea to help other regions!”as quoted by National UNITY Council Male Co-President Joseph Davis.
