Students at Mesa Community College (MCC) organized a panel of student speakers recently to address what it means to be Indigenous in the 21st century. The panelist, all young women, spoke about pride in their culture and the importance of creating community while attending college.
The event, which was open to the public, also included a keynote address by UNITY‘s Executive Director Mary Kim Titla, San Carlos Apache and remarks by Caleb Dash, UNITY Production Assistant and a member of the Salt River Pima Maricopa Indian Community. Both spoke about UNITY‘s role in promoting platforms to elevate the voices of Native youth.
The event ended with a delicious meal featuring Menudo, green chili enchiladas, and green chili tamales. UNITY welcomes the opportunity to do presentations at schools and colleges. Thanks for the invite MCC!
