Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community ushers in new youth council members

Leadership is not defined by one’s rank, position or job title, rather it is demonstrated through action and decision-making sums up the afternoon of honoring newly sworn-in members of the Young River Peoples Council (YRPC) during their Inauguration on January 4, 2020.

Tribal leaders, family and supporters attended to see 17 young men and women begin their terms. Ms. Sommer Lopez, a senior at Westwood High School was sworn-in as President for a 3rd term.

The mission of the YRPC is to cultivate effective leaders for tomorrow’s generation of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community youth.

UNITY appreciates the invitation to attend this event and looks forward to continued success and growth of the Young River Peoples Council and the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.
