Olympian Billy Mills; Story in Runner’s World

Billy Mills, Oglala Lakota Sioux, won the 10,000 meter race in the 1964 Tokyo Olympics; the only US runner to ever win the gold in that event. He was recently featured in the linked article that appeared in Runner’s World magazine. His story is both inspirational and instructive for those who strive for excellence in the pursuit of their life goals.

Mr. Mills is a long time supporter of UNITY and Native youth. He is currently the spokesperson for Running Strong for American Indian Youth.

The linked video shows Mr. Mills in an interview about his mental and physical preparation for the race and its amazing finish, which is considered among the biggest upsets in sports history.
