Free training offered for up to 120 youth!
Mesa, AZ—Free leadership training for up to 120 American Indian youth is available on a first come first serve basis from November 6-8, 2015 in Spokane, Washington. United National Indian Tribal Youth, also known as UNITY, in partnership with the Department of Justice, Office of Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention (OJJDP) is hosting the “Today’s Native Leaders” (TNL) youth leadership event at the Red Lion Hotel at the Park.
This TNL training focuses on culturally relevant leadership development and will include:
- Team building activities
- Action planning & event promotion
- Developing community service projects
- How to create a UNITY youth council
- Opportunity to present at a national conference
This training is sure to empower and motivate your youth! Partial lodging scholarships are available on a first come, first serve basis. Youth trained through this initiative will have an opportunity to play leadership roles at the annual National UNITY conference. The next National UNITY Conference will take place in Oklahoma City, OK, July, 2016.
Future Trainings
The TNL initiative will offer tribal youth leadership training in several sites over the next two years. Training sessions have been scheduled for Saint Paul, Minnesota (Spring 2016); Oklahoma City, Oklahoma (Summer 2016); Palm Springs, California (Winter 2016); and Boston, Massachusetts (Spring 2017). These training sessions will expand the number of UNITY youth councils and youth-led community service projects.
