UNITY at the Youth Leadership Day
On Saturday, February 10, 2018, UNITY attended the annual Youth Leadership Day conference at the Phoenix college campus, hosted by the Phoenix Indian Center. Over 200 students and parents from all over the state of Arizona were in attendance this year. UNITY participated in the conference hosting an informational booth and moderating a college readiness panel.
Each year, the Phoenix Indian Center has done a great job growing their annual youth conference, and this year was no exception with workshops expanding to include more for both parents and youth. The college and career fair provided an opportunity for UNITY to share information about UNITY’s upcoming national conference in San Diego, while meeting local UNITY youth councils. During the workshop session, Joshua Tso with UNITY’s Wellness Warrior team moderated a college readiness panel titled “Life after High School.” The panel of college students shared first-hand stories and advice on how to navigate successfully through the college experience, as well as sharing their experiences in transitioning from high school to college. Thank you to the Staff of the Phoenix Indian Center for allowing UNITY to be a part of the Youth Leadership Day conference!
