In this episode TYRC highlights the Lower Sioux Indian Community (Cansa’yapi – Where they mark the trees red) Tribal Youth Program from the Minnesota River Valley area in Minnesota and their use of mentorship and coming of age ceremonies to promote health and wellness in Mdewakanton Dakota youth.

Georgina Drapeau, the Tribal Youth Program Director, discusses how they maximized community strengths, resources, and intratribal collaboration to get their program up and running. Ms. Drapeau also talks about the challenges they have encountered, including community buy in and support, and how they have worked to overcome them.
