Convening Celebrating LGBTQI+ and Two Spirit Indigenous Communities

As part of Pride Month, we are happy to share that our UNITY Northeast Area Representative Nathan Solorio, 17 was selected to serve as a panelist at the Convening Celebrating LGBTQI+ and Two Spirit Indigenous Communities on June 25 at the White House. Nathan will be joined by other panelists and moderated by Morgan Rodman, Senior Policy Advisor for Native Affairs for the White House Domestic Policy Council. President Biden issued a proclamation to celebrate the extraordinary courage and contributions of the LGBTQI+ community. We reflect on the progress we have made so far in pursuit of equality, justice, and inclusion. We recommit ourselves to do more to support LGBTQI+ rights at home and around the world. Nathan is a descendant of the Roseau River Anishinabe Nation and is enrolled with the Brokenhead Ojibway Nation from Scanterbury, Manitoba, Canada. Nathan is currently a Senior at Cedar Cliff High School in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. His honors include being a recipient of the 5th class of UNITY’S 25 Under 25 National Leadership Recognition Program. He serves on UNITY’s National UNITY Council Executive Committee as Northeast Regional Representative. He enjoys traveling with his family, going to powwows, spending time with his friends, and meeting new people. In the future, he plans on attending college and majoring in Nursing.  Nathan is focused on meeting and working with the youth councils in his region. He believes in community service, is about positive vibes, and helping others.
