National UNITY Council’s Elwood McClellan Jr., Southern Plains representative, Monthly Report
In the month of January, My youth council was asked to be a co-host for an honor dance. After meeting with the youth council we came to the conclusion that we would be more than happy to support in any way possible and accepted the nomination for a co-host. Most of the planning has revolved around the safety protocol due to covid-19 fluctuation.
Although my group did not have a formal meeting, we did have a zoom meet-up. We think that it is important to do check-ins with all of our members, especially after the hit our youth council has taken from our advisor being removed. So, through the navigation of obstacles, we are still moving forward while trying to find ways to interact with other youth councils in this region to continue the incorporation of creative ideas and establishments of connection to be reinforced. This event will take place in February at the Heart of Oklahoma Expo Center in Shawnee Oklahoma February 12th.
It was a great honor that this youth council was asked to be a co-host for this honor dance. meet-up. So, through the navigation of obstacles, we are still moving forward while trying to find ways to interact with other youth councils in this region to continue the incorporation of creative ideas and establishments of connection to be reinforced. The Powwow committee & Family Committee helped support me through the month. It is really our job to support and be helpful in any capacity that is possible.
