Individual Member
Jovi, a 20-year-old member of the White Mountain Apache Tribe, resides in the community of Dishchii’bikoh on the Fort Apache Indian Reservation in Arizona. Born from the Dzil T’adn (Mountain Based People) to the Sai Yagaidn (White Sands People), Jovi has emerged as a dedicated youth leader with a passion for advocacy, cultural preservation, and environmental stewardship.
Currently serving as the Co-Vice President for the National Congress of American Indians Youth Commission, Jovi has already earned recognition at the national level. He is a recipient of the UNITY 25 Under 25 Leadership award and has served as an Earth Ambassador through the United National Indian Tribal Youth Organization (UNITY), where he focused his efforts on Indigenous language and cultural preservation, as well as water conservation and sustainability in Indian Country.
Jovi’s advocacy work extends beyond organizational involvement. As a former Champion for Change with the Center for Native American Youth at the Aspen Institute in Washington, D.C., he has brought attention to language and cultural revitalization, advocating directly to federal agencies and national stakeholders. His work reflects a deep commitment to the core values and ideals of the Apache people, and he credits his cultural teachings as the driving force behind his leadership journey.
His vision for the future centers on building spaces where Indigenous youth feel empowered, supported, and proud of their identity. He hopes to help cultivate a strong circle of young leaders who are grounded in their traditions, connected to their communities, and unafraid to speak up for the issues that matter most. Jovi dreams of a future where Native languages are spoken freely, cultural stories are honored, and Indigenous youth are active participants in shaping policies and decisions.
As a candidate for Western Region Representative, Jovi’s goals are rooted in community, culture, and unity. He aims to strengthen opportunities for learning, healing, and leadership that reflect the values and resilience of Native nations. Through his continued work, he hopes to uplift the voices of Indigenous youth and ensure that they help lead the way forward, guided by ancestral teachings and the enduring strength of their people.
