On May 8, 2024, 25 members of the Siletz Tribal Youth Council (STYC) visited the University of Oregon as part of their ongoing college campus tour series, guided by advisors from the Siletz Tribal Education Department. These visits are part of a broader initiative to support social wellness through education, connection, and cultural exploration.

During the visit, STYC members had the opportunity to explore the university’s academic departments, student facilities, and dedicated Native spaces—such as the Many Nations Longhouse. Youth engaged with university staff, current Native students, and program leaders, learning about the various supports and opportunities available to Indigenous students pursuing higher education.

The STYC campus visit program aims to spark inspiration, ease the transition into higher education, and help youth envision their place within college and university communities. Each visit strengthens awareness of college pathways and builds a stronger connection between tribal youth and institutions committed to Indigenous success.

By stepping onto university campuses across the state, the Siletz Tribal Youth Council continues to prepare its members to lead with purpose—equipped with knowledge, cultural identity, and confidence in their future.
