Evelyn Enos, named to the UNITY 25 Under 25 list, plans to teach writing to the Native youth in her community.
“EVELYN ENOS is determined to empower others through the transformative power of writing. Raised in the Gila River Indian Community near Phoenix, Enos has always been deeply involved in her community, consistently taking on roles that help others. One area in which she struggled as a child, however, was writing. “Now, I feel like I’m very proficient in it because of the people who supported me when I was younger, and so today, I hope to really bring youth up who are willing to write, and wanting to learn how to express themselves and their voice through writing,” she said. Enos, Akimel O’odham/Tohono O’odham, a sophomore at Arizona State University majoring in biological sciences with minors in American Indian studies and psychology, has been named to the United National Indian Tribal Youth’s 25 Under 25 list for her work.” – Shondiin Mayo/ Indian Country Today
