The National Council of Urban Indian Health offers individualized technical assistance, training and organizational support to member Urban Indian Organizations through its Technical Assistance and Research Center.

Technical assistance provides organizations with topic-specific guidance tailored to their unique needs, goals and communities. NCUIH’s approach is collaborative and culturally grounded, helping UIOs strengthen their capacity to deliver high-quality healthcare and public health services to American Indian and Alaska Native people living in urban areas.

Urban Indian Organizations can request assistance with community and staff training, research and evaluation, program planning and implementation, grant application reviews and local partnership development. Support is also available for documenting successful community practices, locating archival data and strengthening organizational policies, procedures and operations.

The Technical Assistance and Research Center can provide guidance in areas such as management, finance, governance, board education, outreach, health information technology, quality improvement and program evaluation. Assistance is customized based on each organization’s needs and may include consultations, training, resources and other capacity-building support.

Member organizations interested in receiving assistance can complete the NCUIH Technical Assistance Request Form and describe the topics, challenges or projects for which they need support.

NCUIH is also inviting Urban Indian Organizations to share policies, procedures, templates and organizational tools through the NCUIH Technical Assistance Portal. Resources may address governance, finance, clinical care, public health, emergency planning, transportation, safety, outreach, referrals, technology and other operational areas.

Submitted materials will be available only to member UIOs through the password-protected portal. Organizations may also request that identifying information be removed and that submitted policies or procedures be converted into redacted templates before being shared.

By providing individualized guidance and creating opportunities for shared learning, NCUIH’s Technical Assistance and Research Center helps Urban Indian Organizations strengthen their programs, operations and services while advancing the health of urban Native communities.
