The United Nations Voluntary Fund for Indigenous Peoples and the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights are accepting applications for the 2026 Indigenous Fellowship Program.

The four-week program will take place in Geneva, Switzerland, and is designed to strengthen the advocacy skills of Indigenous leaders and community members. Participants will gain practical knowledge of the United Nations system, international human rights standards and the mechanisms available to Indigenous Peoples seeking to advance and protect their rights.

Throughout the fellowship, selected participants will learn how to more effectively engage with United Nations processes and apply that knowledge within their own communities and organizations. The program also creates opportunities for Indigenous advocates from different regions and backgrounds to exchange experiences, build relationships and learn from one another.

Applicants must identify as Indigenous, and individuals from a wide range of cultural, professional and community backgrounds are encouraged to apply. Selected Fellows will receive a round-trip airline ticket, assistance with living expenses and basic health insurance for the duration of the training.

The deadline to apply is September 15, 2026.
