UNITY is proud to recognize Hector Tigertail Alicea as an Honorary UNITY Earth Ambassador for the 2025–2026 Cohort, honoring his exceptional leadership, cultural grounding, and commitment to
environmental stewardship.
A citizen of the Miccosukee Tribe of Florida, Hector made a lasting impact on the UNITY Earth Ambassadors during the UNITY Southeast Regional Gathering held in the Everglades. Through his words and presence, Hector uplifted the sacredness of water, the resilience of Miccosukee and Seminole homelands, and the responsibility Native youth carry to protect and defend the Everglades for future generations.
Currently a senior at Miccosukee Indian School, Hector has been raised with a deep respect for the land, water, and animals that sustain his community. He actively works with the Tribe’s Fish and Wildlife
Department, assisting with conservation efforts such as python removal and deer relocation. He also supports his family’s airboat business, helping navigate and steward the Everglades—knowledge passed down through lived experience and cultural responsibility.
Beyond his environmental work, Hector balances modern interests with traditional skills. He enjoys rock and metal music, spending time with friends, and practicing hands-on cultural teachings, including wood carving, bow making, and crafting tools from materials harvested directly from the land—a reflection of his connection to both tradition and place.
