Youth Council: Akimel O’odham/ Pee-Posh Youth Council

Evelyn Enos, a member of the Gila River Indian Community, currently serves as the President of the Akimel O’odham/Pee-Posh Youth Council, a group she has been actively involved with since 2019. She is a junior at Arizona State University, pursuing a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences with an emphasis on Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior. Evelyn also minors in American Indian Studies and Psychology. After completing her undergraduate studies, she plans to attend graduate school to deepen her knowledge of biology and work toward a career in occupational therapy and sustainable food systems.

Evelyn has been recognized for her leadership as a UNITY 25 Under 25 honoree for 2023-2024 and previously served as an Earth Ambassador from 2022 to 2023.

She feels a strong responsibility as a youth and young adult to help build the next generation of Indigenous leaders. Evelyn’s goal is to serve a community beyond her own and to deepen her understanding of the values shared by Indigenous youth across the region.

In seeking this leadership position, Evelyn aims to help more youth access the UNITY community by supporting fundraising efforts, providing leadership training, and fostering stronger connections between individual nations. She believes that building these networks will enhance collaboration and open doors to future opportunities for Indigenous youth across the region.
