During the vibrant celebration of the annual Powwow, the Poarch Creek Youth Council held a heartfelt and creative fundraiser to support their ongoing work in promoting social wellness. With 15 dedicated youth members participating, the council organized a special raffle featuring handmade ribbon skirts and quilts — each one crafted by the youth themselves.

The fundraiser served as more than just a way to raise funds; it was a beautiful showcase of cultural pride, craftsmanship, and community engagement. Every stitch told a story — of heritage, resilience, and unity — as the youth poured their creativity and care into each item raffled off.

Held during one of the community’s most cherished events, the Powwow fundraiser drew in support from local attendees who were eager to contribute to the youth council’s mission. The funds raised will directly support future projects centered on cultural education, peer wellness, and youth empowerment.

By hosting this fundraiser, the Poarch Creek Youth Council not only raised financial support but also deepened their sense of identity and leadership. The raffle highlighted the importance of preserving traditional arts while using them as a tool for modern-day wellness and connection.

This effort stands as a powerful example of how Native youth are leading with purpose — using culture as a foundation to uplift one another and strengthen their community.
