Current reigning Miss Navajo, Shaandiin Parrish, challenges people to “Stay Home. Stay Safe, Save Lives”. She uploaded a video to her instagram encouraging everyone to stay home for the safety of our people, culture and environment.
“Staying home is protecting our elders…, our vulnerable community members and more importantly it’s protecting our language, our beautiful way of life, and our culture.”
Shaandiin promotes staying at home by challenging others to showcase how they spend their time in self isolation while also using the phrase “Stay Home, Stay Safe, Save Lives” This challenge has gotten a lot of great feedback from other community members of the Navajo Nation including other royalty such as Miss Northern Navajo, Tyuilera Toney. Tyuilera is a current student at San Juan Community College. In the photo you can see she spends her time studying in self isolation.
