In this week’s highlight, we would like to share the news that one of UNITY’s 25 under 25 awardees, Kylie Hunts-In-Winter has recently been accepted to Harvard University. Kylie, who is not only an outstanding student, has been actively working in her local community on projects such as womens’ self defense, as well as advocating among Arizona state officials for the change to Indigenous People’s Day.
“In December I found out that I was accepted into Harvard under their early action program, and I was so shocked when I got it. I have always been huge into activism, rooting from being an indigenous person as well as a girl training in martial arts since I was three years old. I’m going to study political science at Harvard, to pursue my career in activism, and will possibly even running for an elected position at some point. I am already well-versed in the political world, currently advocating for indigenous peoples day and the missing and murdered indigenous women‘s movement. Harvard is exactly where I need to be to reach my goals and make a positive impact on the world.”
We know Kylie will do many great things in the future and wish her well on her academic journey.
