On February 24, 2024, the Health & Wellness Committee of the FINAL Youth Council hosted a meaningful Youth Self-Love Day at the Phoenix Indian Center. This intimate event focused on promoting mental wellness through intentional self-care practices and cultural appreciation.

The day’s activities included guided journaling, mindful movement exercises, and open discussions that encouraged participants to reflect on their emotional well-being and personal growth. These moments of reflection and connection offered a safe and supportive space for youth to explore what self-love looks like in their everyday lives.

A highlight of the event was a traditional and contemporary O’odham food tasting led by Renee Jackson. The tasting not only celebrated Indigenous foodways but also emphasized the connection between cultural identity and holistic wellness.

Youth Self Love Day was a reminder of the importance of caring for the mind, body, and spirit while staying rooted in culture and community.
