This is a compilation of the text of Public Law 93-415 as last amended. Although this publication does not represent an official version of any federal statute, an effort was made to ensure the accuracy of its content. The Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Act of 1974 is a federal law that provides funds to states that follow a series of federal protections, known as the “core protections,” on the care and treatment of youth in the justice system. The amendments of 2018 are designed to expand the scope and facilitate the implementation of the core requirements of the 1974 act.
