UNITY invites Native youth, youth council members, advisors, and adult supporters to take part in a special one-day Healing Circle Training before the 2026 National UNITY Conference in Oklahoma City.
This training will take place on Thursday, July 9, 2026, the day before the official start of the National UNITY Conference, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. Space is limited to the first 100 participants who register.
The UNITY Healing Circle Training is designed to help youth councils learn how to hold meaningful conversations about the real issues impacting their communities. Many youth councils are already leading service projects, awareness campaigns, and advocacy efforts, but some topics require deeper listening, stronger facilitation, and a culturally grounded way to bring people together.

Through this one-day training, participants will learn how to use the traditional practice of a talking circle to create a respectful space for hard conversations. The training will help youth and advisors explore how to guide group discussions, listen with purpose, support youth voice, and bring community members together around important topics such as wellness, culture, belonging, prevention, leadership, and local community concerns.
This training is similar to learning how to host a youth-led town hall, but with cultural teachings, circle values, and community care at the center. Participants will gain tools they can take home to their own youth councils, schools, tribal communities, and local organizations.
During the training, participants will:
- Learn the purpose and structure of a healing circle
- Practice how to create a respectful space for youth-led conversations
- Explore ways to discuss difficult community issues with care
- Build facilitation skills rooted in listening, respect, and cultural values
- Learn how youth councils can host their own talking circles or community conversations
- Develop ideas for bringing these teachings back to their local communities
This opportunity is especially encouraged for youth council officers, National UNITY Council representatives, advisors, peer leaders, and youth who want to strengthen their voice as community advocates.
The training is open to the first 100 participants, and advance registration is required.
