On March 18, 2024, the White Mountain Apache Tribal Youth Council hosted a vibrant and welcoming event in Whiteriver to celebrate physical wellness and recruit new members. With over 25 youth in attendance, the gathering served as a powerful reminder of the importance of community, culture, and connection.

The event featured interactive activities aimed at building relationships and promoting healthy lifestyles. Attendees enjoyed a fun-filled evening that included making s’mores over a fire, learning how to bake traditional corn bread, and participating in team-building games. The event provided a relaxed space where youth could meet current council members, ask questions, and learn about the purpose and mission of the Tribal Youth Council.

This gathering marked the beginning of a new chapter as the Council welcomed enthusiastic new members who are eager to represent their peers, strengthen their leadership skills, and continue building a healthier, stronger White Mountain Apache community.

By blending cultural traditions with modern wellness activities, the Youth Council continues to create meaningful opportunities for youth engagement while honoring the values of the White Mountain Apache people.
