Indigikitchen, a portmanteau of Indigenous, digital, and kitchen, is an online cooking show dedicated to re-indigenizing our diets using digital media. Using foods native to their Americas, Indigikitchen gives viewers the important tools they need to find and prepare food on their own reservations. Beyond that, it strengthens the ties to our cultures and reminds us of the inherent worth of our identities white fueling our physical bodies.

Denver, Colorado – July 5, 2017 – Imagine downloading an app designed to help you track wellness from a cultural perspective – fitness through cultural dance, healthy eating with traditional Native foods, and more. This week more than 1,800 Native American youth and advisors from throughout the U.S. will do just that at the National UNITY Conference taking place at the Colorado Convention Center from July 6 – 10. The UNITY Wellness Warrior app is made possible through a grant from the W.K. Kellogg Foundation. The app, developed with input from Native youth, is free and will be available via the App Store and Play Store beginning on July 6. Read More

Wellness Warriors Offers Free Training and Pool Party

Wellness Warriors Training and Pool Party FlyerUNITY’s Wellness Warriors program will host a health and wellness training, and an app launch of the new Wellness Warriors Mobile App. The training and pool party will take place at Fort McDowell’s We Ko Pa Resort, on June 12, 2017. This hands on training will gather Native Youth input and ideas for our new Wellness Warriors app. The training will take place from 10 am to 5 pm, followed by a pool party till sun down. Food and entertainment will be provided. We are only accepting the first 100 participants. Those who want to attend may register online HERE.

UNITY’s Wellness Warriors Participate in Healthy Kids! Healthy Futures! Conference

UNITY’s Wellness Warriors team had the opportunity to attend the “Healthy Kids! Healthy Futures!” conference, hosted by the Notah Begay III Foundation, in Santa Fe, New Mexico. Following the NB3Foundation mission statement, to reduce Native American childhood obesity and type-2 diabetes, the conference touched on many more issues regarding the health and wellness in Indian country with the intent to share solutions among health providers.  Read More

My Brothers Keeper Alliance Youth Summit

UNITY Alumni and the UNITY Wellness Warrior team attended the “Empowering & Equipping Tomorrow’s Native Leaders” My Brother’s Keeper Alliance Youth Summit on April 27; hosted collectively by MBK Alliance, MBK Albuquerque, and the Gathering of Nations Pow Wow, brought together 100 Native young men to be change makers in their home communities.

During the launch, we unveiled the new Wellness Warriors logo, featured guest speaker, Pearl Yellowman, gave an empowering message on wellness through traditional and modern teachings. To kick off our Wellness Warriors social media pages, conference attendees snapped and tagged photos to help promote our online presence.
