“Water First! Journeys of 8 Indigenous Communities”.

The web series captures the inspiring stories of eight Native communities’ efforts to reduce the consumption of sugary-sweetened beverages and increase the consumption of safe drinking water among youth in their community or promote breastfeeding.

Her message is a call to action to encourage people to take steps with the simple things in everyday life to make a positive imprint on the environment. Bezos Scholars Program: Apply by January 31, 2020

Every year, 17 exceptional high school juniors and an educator from each school are selected as Bezos Scholars. Scholars are chosen from across the U.S. and the African Leadership Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa. After spending a week immersed in learning at the Aspen Ideas Festival, Scholars return home and develop a community change project to make a positive difference in their communities. Once selected, Scholars join a global alumni network where they are offered opportunities to connect, collaborate, get inspired, and take action for the greater good. Read More

Tribal College Blanket Design Competition

The American Indian College Fund and Pendleton Woolen Mills are challenging tribal college students to express their culture and identity through original designs for our next tribal college student blanket. Blanket sales will support College Fund scholarships. Textile design experience is not necessary to enter, and student winners will receive the following prizes: Grand Prize Winner – $2,000 cash, $5,000 scholarship, & 6 blankets; 2nd Place Winner – $500 cash & $2,500 scholarship; and 3rd Place Winner – $250 cash & $1,500 scholarship. The report highlights young leaders who are working hard to create a brighter future for tribal nations, the programs that help them do so, and the policy issues that impact their lives. The report also shares what we’ve learned from community meetings with youth and service providers about the priorities and solutions that matter most.

Get to know the newest UNITY Peer Guide Cohort and learn more about their passion for advocating for “non-traditional” Native youth leadership. UNITY has recruited this diverse group of youth mentors, to design and facilitate six regional trainings across the nation. These trainings will empower Native youth to speak out about critical aspects of juvenile justice and delinquency prevention efforts within their home communities.
