The Native Land Conservancy offered the Land of the First Light Fellowship, a paid summer opportunity for Native American young adults interested in conservation, land care, and ecological restoration.
This 10-week fellowship takes place in the Wampanoag ancestral homelands of Cape Cod in Mashpee, Massachusetts. Fellows spend the summer learning how Indigenous culture, traditional practices, and ecological knowledge guide land protection.
Participants develop an ecological project with support from a professional mentor while also gaining hands-on experience in land care and restoration. Fellows also take part in conservation excursions, cultural events, and learning opportunities rooted in Native stewardship.
The fellowship is designed to help open pathways for Native youth to pursue careers in conservation and environmental work.
The deadline for this opportunity was March 1, 2026, and applications are now closed.
