The Johns Hopkins Center for Indigenous Health offered several week-long courses in Indigenous public health through the 2026 Johns Hopkins Global Health Summer Institute.
The summer courses were designed to help participants learn more about Indigenous public health, leadership, evaluation, policy, and data use in American Indian communities.
Course topics included:
Legal & Historical Basis for American Indian Health Policy
Indigenous Leadership & Ethics
Indigenous Evaluation Frameworks
Collecting, Analyzing & Using Public Health Data in American Indian Communities
The courses and Institute scholarship were open to all participants, regardless of background, identity, or Tribal affiliation.
This opportunity provided an important space for students, public health professionals, community leaders, and others to deepen their understanding of Indigenous health and strengthen skills that support Native communities.
The priority deadline was March 15, 2026, and the general deadline was April 1, 2026.
