UNITY Hosts Virtual Native Scholarships Forum

On Friday, February 21st, 2020, UNITY moderated an online forum to discuss scholarship and student opportunities. With so many native students looking for available scholarships, UNITY partnered with the American Indian College Fund, American Indian Graduate Center, American Indian Science & Engineering Society and Cobell Scholarship, to bring the discussion to one place. UNITY Holds Annual Midyear Conference


Native Youth Gather for Learning and Collaboration 

The 2020 UNITY Midyear Conference, held February 14-17 in Tempe, Arizona, brought together more than 450 Native American and Alaska Native youth and advisors from rural and urban tribal communities across the U.S. for four days of learning, cultural sharing, and collaboration. The focus of this year’s conference was on healing, and strengthening Native youth identity and sense of belonging. Importantly, UNITY affiliated youth councils and individuals left the conference with completed action plans for community service projects.

Each Program focuses on a different aspect of the social, mental, spiritual and physical development. Navajo basketball team featured in Netflix documentary to present at leadership conference for Native Youth

Mesa, Arizona – January 30, 2020 – United National Indian Tribal Youth (UNITY) will hold its annual midyear conference in Tempe, Arizona, February 14-17, 2020 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix Tempe. The conference will bring together more than 300 Native youth, who will hear from motivational presenters including Chinle High School Athletic Director Shaun Martin along side members of the 2018-19 Chinle H.S. basketball team, who were featured in the Netflix documentary “Basketball or Nothing.”

Calling all NUC Reps to register for this year’s Peer Leaders Training

Once a year UNITY dedicates time for leadership development trainings of the National UNITY Council representatives. We invite one young man and one young woman to serve as your Youth Council representatives. Take advantage of this free training opportunity for your youth leaders to have hands on training with UNITY Leaders before the upcoming Midyear Conference. The Peer Leaders Training will take place on Friday, February 14 from 8:30 – 12:00 pm at the Doubletree by Hilton Hotel Phoenix Tempe, Arizona.

Your Voice is Vital: Sign up for the NIHB Pre-Conference Listening Session


The National Indian Health Board (NIHB) is partnering with the Indian Health Service and UNITY to host a 90-minute listening session on HIV. The session is designed for Native youth 18 years or older to voice their thoughts, opinions, stories, insights and perspectives on how HIV is being addressed or could be better addressed in their communities. All input is confidential, and the ideas will be summarized in a report to the Indian Health Service. This is a chance to voice your opinion about how to end this epidemic in Indian Country. Snacks will be provided. Participation is completely voluntary. Come and share in a safe and non-judgmental setting.  Your voice is vital to the movement to end this epidemic.

This is a free additional training opportunity open to any indigenous youth 14 to 24 years old to occur before UNITY’s 2020 Midyear Conference.
