Call for Speed Workshop Presenters 2019

Do you have an interesting topic you would like to present and discuss with Native youth at the UNITY Midyear Conference?
CLICK HERE to Submit your speed workshop idea by Friday, January 11, 2019! 

Similar to speed dating, presenters will have 25 minutes with each group (total of 3) of Native youth participants. The youth will then rotate between tables of topics that interest them. UNITY is seeking presenters to lead discussions on environmental issues, education, career development, wellness, cultural teachings and much more. UNITY youth featured at Orme Dam Victory Days

UNITY youth took center stage at the 37th Annual Orme Dam Victory Days celebration hosted by the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation in Arizona. As a result of its long-standing relationship with the Fort McDowell Yavapai Nation, UNITY gladly partnered with the tribe to coordinate cultural performances during the three-day event. In honor of the theme “Yavapai Youth of Tomorrow” four UNITY youth councils and other youth presented their traditional songs and dances at the Yavapai Village located at the tribe’s fairground site.

Executive Committee Meets in Grand Ronde for Retreat Training

Earlier this month, the National UNITY Council Executive Committee (NUC EC) hosted their retreat at the Spirit Mountain Casino in Grand Ronde, Oregon. The NUC EC engaged in numerous topics including campaign building discussions and strategies. The trainings were led by UNITY facilitator and former NUC Executive Committee Co-President, Juanita Toledo.

National UNITY Co-Presidents address tribal leaders at NCAI Convention

Imagine being thrust onto a national stage in front of tribal leaders from across the country. That opportunity happened for National UNITY Council Co-Presidents Joseph Davis, Akimel O’odham, and SuSun Fisher, Confederated Tribes of Siletz Indians, when they were invited to do a presentation at the 75th Convention of the National Congress of American Indians in Denver, Colorado. The convention drew hundreds of tribal leaders from reservations, communities, and Alaska Native villages. Fisher and Davis spoke to tribal leaders about UNITY’s successful track record of empowering Native youth and developing youth councils in the U.S.
