My name is Sophie Landin, and I’m an enrolled member of the Mandan Hidatsa and Arikara Nation. As the youngest in my family, I’ve always been surrounded by their guidance, which has deeply influenced who I am. Growing up, I was surrounded by our traditional practices and ceremonies, and I believe that spirituality is an important part of my life. I am proud of my roots, coming from White Shield, ND, where the Missouri River holds a special place in who we are and our way of life. The water and land from which I come from are integral to who I am. Education is another passion of mine; I work hard to maintain a high GPA with the goal of becoming an architect. This career will allow me to merge my love for creativity and design with my desire to create spaces that could serve native american communities such as mine. With the support of my family and community, I’m motivated to pursue my dreams while staying true to who I am. From dancing at powwows to studying for exams, I always stay dedicated and try my best to represent my people.
