Native American high school students interested in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) have an exciting opportunity this summer through the Tulsa Advanced Sciences Camp (TASC), a free residential program designed to inspire and support the next generation of Native leaders in STEM.

Hosted at the University of Tulsa from July 26–August 1, TASC brings together ambitious Native students from tribal communities across the United States for a week of hands-on learning, mentorship, and collaboration. The program is led by Jack Carson, a rising junior at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), and builds on the success of its inaugural pilot program held last summer.

Throughout the week, participants will work on engaging technical projects, learn directly from MIT faculty and students, and connect with peers who share a passion for STEM and community leadership. The experience is designed not only to strengthen academic interests but also to help students build lasting relationships with other Native youth from diverse tribal nations.

One of the program’s unique features is its commitment to accessibility. TASC is a free fly-in residential program, with travel, housing, and meals fully covered for accepted students. By removing financial barriers, the program aims to ensure that talented Native students from across the country can participate regardless of location.

Programs like TASC play an important role in expanding educational opportunities for Native youth while encouraging innovation, problem-solving, and leadership development. Students gain exposure to advanced STEM fields, university life, and mentorship opportunities that can help shape future academic and career pathways.

Applications for the 2026 Tulsa Advanced Sciences Camp are open now and will close on July 5. Native American high school students from any tribal community in the United States are encouraged to apply.

For additional information about the program and application requirements, visit the TASC website at tascmit.org. To submit an application, visit tascmit.org/apply.

Through opportunities like TASC, Native youth continue to demonstrate their potential as future scientists, engineers, researchers, and innovators while strengthening connections across Indigenous communities nationwide.
