Mazie Countryman

Mazie Countryman, a proud citizen of the Northern Arapaho, Eastern Shoshone, Shoshone-Bannock Tribes, and the Navajo Nation, is a powerful voice for Indigenous youth leadership, community wellness, and climate justice. Currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Public Health Administration at Brigham Young University–Idaho, Mazie balances her academic commitments with deep community involvement, striving to create healthier and more equitable futures for Native communities.

At home, Mazie serves as the Female Co-President of the Fort Hall Youth Council, where she leads with compassion and a strong focus on cultural revitalization and civic engagement. Nationally, she represented the Northwest Region—Idaho, Washington, Oregon, and Alaska—for two years as a UNITY Northwest Area Representative. Her leadership has centered on amplifying youth voices and promoting meaningful change across the UNITY network.

Mazie’s impact goes beyond regional borders. In 2024, she was named a Brave Heart Fellow through the Center for Native American Youth, where she focuses on bridging the representation gap in climate justice while uplifting Indigenous knowledge and perspectives. Her global advocacy also includes serving as a member of the U.S. Department of State’s International Youth Leadership Coalition, ensuring Native youth are represented on the world stage.

Her leadership journey is grounded in service and character. As a former Girl Scout of eight years, Mazie continues to embody values of honesty, fairness, kindness, and resilience. She organizes events, volunteers within her community, and mentors fellow youth, always believing in the power of collective action to drive change.

Among her many accomplishments, Mazie earned certification as a Pharmacy Technician during her senior year of high school, showcasing her drive and determination. Whether in the classroom, the clinic, or the community, she brings a positive mindset and unwavering commitment to every endeavor.

Mazie is a passionate advocate for Native youth, believing deeply that they are the future of Indian Country. Her work is guided by the principles of equity, access, and empowerment—ensuring that all youth have the resources and support they need to thrive.

Now serving as the 2025–2026 Female Co-President of UNITY, Mazie continues to lead with humility, strength, and a vision rooted in community and connection. She looks forward to building strong relationships, uplifting Native youth across the country, and collaborating with others to create a more just and vibrant future.
