In the fall of 2024, the Navajo Prep Naat’áanii Youth Council took action to support civic engagement by participating in Get Out the Vote (GOTV) efforts during the election season. With 18 youth members involved, the council focused on learning how to mobilize their peers and communities around the importance of voting and political participation.
Youth council members attended webinars and educational presentations to better understand the goals and strategies of GOTV campaigns, especially within Native communities. Armed with this knowledge, they produced and submitted a GOTV video for both the UNITY and Center for Native American Youth civic engagement campaigns—highlighting the voice and power of Indigenous youth in shaping their future.

In addition to the council’s group video, one youth member was inspired to take further initiative by submitting her own individual video, reflecting personal passion and commitment to voter awareness.
The project empowered students to be more civically informed while encouraging their peers to become active participants in the democratic process. Through this initiative, the Naat’áanii Youth Council reinforced how youth-driven advocacy can foster community involvement and strengthen Native representation at all levels of government.
