The Native American Fish & Wildlife Society offered the 2026 National Summer Youth Practicum for Native American and Alaska Native high school students ages 14–17.

This opportunity was designed to give Native youth hands-on and classroom-based learning experiences in natural resource management and Indigenous knowledge. The program helps students better understand the importance of caring for land, water, wildlife, and other natural resources while recognizing the deep connection between culture and environmental stewardship.

Through the Summer Youth Practicum, participants learn about professional natural resource management and explore how these fields connect to Native communities, traditional knowledge, and future career opportunities.

The program also encourages Native youth to continue their education and consider careers in natural resources, fish and wildlife, conservation, and related fields.

The 2026 practicum was located in Denver, Colorado, and the application deadline was May 2, 2026.
