The Fort Hall Youth Council actively participated in the Fort Hall Indian Day Powwow, a two-day celebration of culture, dance, and community. Fifteen youth council members dedicated their time to assist the powwow committee while also leading fundraising efforts for their future attendance at the National UNITY Conference.
Throughout the weekend, the youth council supported event logistics—helping with various behind-the-scenes tasks to ensure the powwow ran smoothly. They also organized and ran a bake sale and hosted cake walks, both of which were well-received by attendees and helped raise funds to support youth travel and participation in national Native youth leadership events.
The powwow not only served as a meaningful way to give back to the community, but also offered youth the opportunity to strengthen their social wellness. Members connected with new people, deepened relationships within Fort Hall, and practiced communication, teamwork, and community engagement in a positive and culturally rich environment.
This event was a success for the Fort Hall Youth Council—providing service experience, leadership growth, and strong community connections. Their contributions reflect a growing commitment to cultural involvement, youth empowerment, and the collective spirit that makes powwows such powerful spaces for Indigenous identity and unity.
