Jamie Crowe: Championing Health Equity and Cultural Revitalization for Native Youth
Jamie Crowe, a proud member of the Pueblo of Tesuque, stands as a committed advocate for the health and well-being of Native communities. Serving her second term as the Southwest Regional Representative and Vice President on the National UNITY Council Executive Committee, Jamie brings experience, passion, and a clear vision for Indigenous youth empowerment.
Currently pursuing a degree in Population Health with a minor in Maternal and Child Health at the University of New Mexico, Jamie’s academic journey reflects her dedication to addressing systemic health disparities affecting Native peoples. Her focus on public health emphasizes improving outcomes for Native youth and families, blending science with cultural understanding.
Jamie’s leadership roots run deep. Since age 16, she has been an active member of the Tesuque Pueblo Youth Coalition, spearheading initiatives in cultural revitalization, language preservation, and tobacco cessation. Through these efforts, Jamie and her youth council have engaged their community in reclaiming traditional tobacco practices while educating peers on the harmful effects of commercial tobacco use.
Her introduction to national youth leadership began at the 2019 UNITY Conference in Orlando, Florida—a pivotal experience that ignited her commitment to serve as a changemaker and protector of Indigenous knowledge. This passion continues to guide her work today.
A profound advocate for Tewa language revitalization, Jamie understands that language is the heartbeat of cultural identity and ancestral continuity. “I do not want to live in a world without it,” she states, underscoring her dedication to ensuring that future generations carry forward the strength, wisdom, and stories of their ancestors.
With compassion, purpose, and unwavering commitment to health equity and cultural preservation, Jamie leads with heart and vision—working tirelessly to make sure Native youth are seen, heard, and empowered to shape their own futures.
