Victor Organista

Victor Organista, 19

Tribe: Prairie Band Potawatomi

Youth Council: Haskell Indian Nations University Unity Club

Victor Organista, a member of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation, is currently a sophomore at Haskell Indian Nations University studying media communications. His academic focus is on merging media with Native storytelling, aiming to create a platform that honors Indigenous voices and narratives. Beyond his studies, Victor is passionate about fostering a community where youth are encouraged to learn, grow, and care for their elders.

Victor has taken an active role in shaping Native voices through multiple media workshops designed to inspire today’s Indigenous youth and prepare the leaders of tomorrow. His dedication to youth empowerment is also reflected in his work as a Program Assistant at the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation Boys and Girls Club. On campus, he serves as Co-President of the UNITY club at Haskell Indian Nations University and regularly volunteers at local events both on his reservation and at school.

From fall 2023 through spring 2025, Victor worked as a News Anchor and Media Technician for Good Morning Indian Country, gaining valuable experience in media production and journalism. In 2023, he served as President of the HINU Skateboard Club and, in summer 2024, took on the role of skateboard mentor for the Nations Skate youth skateboarding workshop. Between 2022 and 2023, he led the Firekeepers Youth Council of the Prairie Band Potawatomi Nation as its President.

Throughout all his roles, Victor remains committed to improving himself, supporting his family, and most importantly, serving his community. He enjoys participating in community service and hopes to inspire others who want to give back and make a difference.

Victor views his involvement with UNITY as an important opportunity to expand his ability to serve. He believes that holding a position within the organization will provide insight into what it takes to be part of a council dedicated to the well-being of Indigenous peoples. For him, it is a stepping stone toward his long-term goal of becoming a tribal chairman and contributing to a brighter future.

While Victor recognizes that many people already do great work for their communities, he wants to help them serve even better. He believes that as the Southern Plains representative, he can positively impact many lives. Though he is one individual, he understands that UNITY represents a collective effort—a community working together to support and uplift Indigenous people. This shared mission is what drives his desire to be part of the National UNITY Council.
