UNITY’s 50th Anniversary Open House stood as a meaningful and intentional celebration of five decades dedicated to uplifting Native youth, strengthening cultural identity, and cultivating the next generation of leaders. This milestone reflected not only UNITY’s long-standing legacy, but also the ongoing commitment and collective effort that have carried its mission forward for 50 years.

The event opened in a good way with a prayer and cultural blessing led by Leland Thomas (Tohono O’odham/Akimel O’odham), grounding the celebration in respect, gratitude, and tradition. The program continued with special remarks from honored guests, including the Council of Eagles, Mary Kim Titla, Vivian Juan Saunders and Greg Mendoza, alongside UNITY alumni Kyle Flores and other community voices who shared reflections on leadership, service, and the impact of UNITY across generations.

Throughout the Open House, the space was filled with activities that brought people together in celebration and connection. Guests participated in games, UNITY trivia, and interactive experiences, along with office tours that highlighted UNITY’s continued growth and work in support of Native youth. Moments such as the cake cutting and piñata breaking added to the spirit of joy and shared accomplishment.

Live music carried the energy of the day. One Way Sky delivered a powerful performance rooted in their homelands and lived experiences, while DJ Tribal Touch kept the celebration going with a dynamic set that blended culture, entertainment, and community spirit.

At its heart, the UNITY Open House honored 50 years of purpose, 50 years of investing in Native youth, elevating their voices, and building pathways for leadership and opportunity. The celebration reflected on how far UNITY has come while reaffirming its commitment to the generations still to come.

This milestone served as a powerful reminder that UNITY’s legacy lives through the young people it continues to support, inspire, and empower.
